Chris has long been involved with medium to heavy industry in New Zealand. His work experience since the late ‘70s has covered design drafting in the chemical and transport industries, pulp and paper project work with consulting engineers and sales engineer positions in the bearings and transmission product supply trades.
In 1989 Chris formed Optical Alignment Services Ltd. The new company offered the very first laser shaft alignment service in New Zealand at a time when preventative maintenance was in its infancy.
Two years later, Chris and a colleague incorporated Alignment Engineering Ltd and went on to establish the business as a leader in its field.
As Managing Director of Alignment Engineering Ltd, Chris calls on his years of managing experience and practical application skills. He maintains an extensive network of contacts and contractors associated with engineering and plant maintenance in New Zealand.
Chris came on board the Alignment Engineering team at the beginning of 2007 after spending several years in Europe. He is providing Alignment and Condition monitoring services to Auckland and the wider area.
Chris has been involved in heavy industry engineering for over 30 years, he has extensive experience in the Forest industry covering pulp & paper, panel manufacturing and saw milling. Having spent many years in engineering management and project engineering Chris has a clear understanding of the complex requirements for the plant reliability and the tools required to provide it.
Grant has spent the last 12 years with Alignment Engineering, specialising in various aspects of machine alignment, particularly shaft alignment and geometry measurement.
Balancing, basic vibration monitoring and analysis are also skills used, and/or are being developed in conjunction with the experience of other technicians within Alignment Engineering.
Nick has a strong background in business management and strategy. Having graduated from Otago University with a Masters of Business, Nick worked in a consultative role with a number of South-Island businesses in the fields of strategy, competitive development and human resources. It is in this role that Nick discovered his passion for business strategy and development.
In 2008 Nick joined the Alignment Engineering Group as the office manager. In this role, Nick brings his experience across multiple industries and a focus on delivering cutting-edge solutions for clients nationwide.
Alan served an apprenticeship as a Fitter/machinist for British Steel, gaining further experience in a precision tool making and laser cutting workshop. A move to a large Pharmaceutical manufacturer enabled Alan to gain experience in reliability investigations and statutory inspections and procedures.
During this time he gained qualifications and experience in NDT, Vibration monitoring, failure analysis and tribology. Following a lifestyle to New Zealand in 1997 Alan has worked with an OEM carrying out build and installation of production lines for international customers. Alan has also continued with reliability and vibration work within the wood processing industry, and has recently returned from working on a large mining project in Europe.
